Born to a Mexican-American archaeologist father and French-Italian ER nurse mother in rural southeast Colorado, I began my acting career at the age of 8 playing the Mouse King in my elementary school's production of The Nutcracker. Following my grade school years, where I continued performing as both an actor and drummer, I enlisted in the US Navy as a Cryptologic Technician. This period in my life allowed me the opportunity to explore and gain a better understanding of myself and the amazing people and places in this world, which was highly instrumental in shaping me into the person and performer I am today.

After finishing military service I attended UCLA's School of Theatre, Film, and Television where I completed my Bachelor's degree in Theatre with an emphasis in Acting.

I currently spend my time between Brooklyn and my former hometown in Colorado. Besides performing in, writing, and producing film and theatre, I am also the Artistic Director of Unit J, a performance space in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, owner of 2nd Anderson Productions, and Festival Director of Cinema338, a shorts festival highlighting New York City filmmakers.

Things I’ve Made

The man’s role appears to be the more difficult, with its demands of a good-guy demeanor that is tested to the max. Richard Carrillo does a first-rate job in a nuanced performance at odds with both the past and his immediate present.

Reviews

Most impressively, Carrillo is a multi-dimensional character when he could have been all black villain.
— SD News
But the positives. The fine touch of that Colin Farrell lookalike, Rich Carrillo, playing the beefy-Irish-heartthrob-rowboat-sailor-with-a-heart-of-gold.
